Welcome the GAMITS'

Say hello to The Gamits', in honesty one of a favorites over here at the P+P HQ. We are proud to be co-releasing with Suburban Home. Read what Suburban Home has to say:

'...We are proud to announce that The Gamits’ new album not only has a new title, “Parts”, it has a new partner. “Parts” will be co-released by Paper and Plastick, the label owned and operated by Vinnie Fiorello (of Less Than Jake). Our good friend Matt Yonker (of Teen Idols/Bullets to Broadway) reminded us that Vinnie was a big fan of the Gamits and he originally suggested the possiblity of doing a split 7″ with Bullets to Broadway on Paper and Plastick. As the discussion continued, it was proposed that Paper and Plastick be involved with the release of The Gamits’ new album.

Vinnie said of the Gamits, “.. Antidote came out and it caused a tidal wave in my music collection. It eclipsed every other cd in its way – I fell in love with the band all over again – it took all the hooks from their previous records and mixed it with tension and depression- all the things mixing in my head at the time. The Gamits always have been a gem among the music i own and when I had the chance to help out with the new record, how could I not jump at the chance to work with a band that has been my soundtrack…”

We are honored to be able to work with Vinnie and Paper and Plastick. “Parts” is going to blow you away.

The Gamits have finished recording their new album and we expect to have it out in October. The Gamits will be playing their first show in over 5 years on Friday, August 6th and the Bluebird Theater with Only Thunder (one of their last shows) ...."

Out-of-print SPRING HEELED JACK albums available for digital download

P+P is proud to announce the digital release of SPRING HEELED JACK's out-of-print, third wave ska classic CDs Static World View (1995) and Songs From Suburbia (1998). Both albums are available for download through the Paper + Plastick webstore, as well as a FREE download of “East End Gangster,” the band's first brand new song written in over a decade, recorded live earlier this year.

“Back in the 90’s, Spring Heeled Jack was doing ska-punk right… mixing soul, punk, ska, and reggae together. I always thought they were ahead of the curve,” says Paper + Plastick’s Vinnie Fiorello. “As a fan, I wanted the albums to be available to other fans that may want to buy high quality MP3's. From a label perspective, the fact that I can provide a release for these albums that have been out-of-print for so long is fantastic.” Coming across CD copies of Static World View and Songs From Suburbia are so rare that Spring Heeled Jack saxophonist/vocalist JR Wasilewski says, “Some people claim they still find Songs From Suburbia in used bins at record stores out in California. I've sent messages to those people telling them I'll pay for every CD they send to me, but they never seem to send them.”

After being dormant for nearly a decade, the band played two reunion shows earlier this year in their hometown of New Haven, CT. "The reunion shows went better than we ever expected them to go,” says Wasilewski. “There were very few hiccups along the way in planning and when we announced the first show it sold 500 tickets the first week. We had wondered if people would remember and after we saw that number, we knew it would be something special.” The band recorded and filmed both nights, and will be releasing a live digital album later this year with two new songs through Paper + Plastick. Details regarding the video footage will be announced shortly.

Spring Heeled Jack was one of the most revered ska/punk bands from the 90's, and helped set the groundwork for contemporaries such as We Are The Union, The Flatliners, The Expendables, Big D And The Kids Table, and many more. After releasing their debut, Static World View, on legendary ska label Moon Ska Records, and announcing their hiatus in 2000, members of Spring Heeled Jack have gone on to perform with Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Reel Big Fish, Skavoovie and the Epitones, The Toasters, The Pilfers, and Less Than Jake, where Wasilewski currently holds down the brass section on saxophone.

Let us be the first to welcome Andrew Dost's "Wasted Miracle"

Beulah, MI – Years in the making, Paper + Plastick Records is excited to announce it will release ANDREW DOST’s sophomore solo album, WASTED MIRACLE , later this year. Currently locked away in his home studio, the multi-instrumentalist is recording vocals and putting the final touches on the album, which will be his second album for Paper + Plastick. For updates on the album, visit Andrew Dost’s recently launched website:www.andrewdost.com.

"This album is full of the little snippets of melody I couldn't get out of my head," says Dost. With many of songs originating from ideas he had for his current band, fun., and some even dating back to his former band Anathallo, Dost admits “I liked them too much to abandon them.” More details regarding the album will be announced shortly.

Andrew Dost previously released his solo debut, Columbus, via Paper + Plastick in December 2008, which is available on CD, vinyl and digitally. Loosely based on the exploits of Christopher Columbus, Dost wrote, recorded, produced and played almost all of the instruments on the album, which features guest appearances from Michael Nau (of Page France and The Cotton Jones Basket Ride), Nate Ruess (of The Format), Joel Thiele (of Anathallo), and Chris Fafalios and Steve Soboslai (of Punchline). Since leaving Anathallo, Dost’s main project is the pop-rock outfit fun., which also released their debut Aim And Ignite (Nettwerk) on vinyl through Paper + Plastick and sold out quickly.

Welcome Make Do And Mend to the family.

Welcome MAKE DO AND MEND to the family ! This will be our second Co-release with a label and we are stoked that it is with PANIC records, a label we respect. Here's the low down:

Hartford post-punkers MAKE DO AND MEND (MDAM) hit the studio last week to record their full-length debut, which will be released later this year via Paper + Plastick Records, in conjunction with the band’s long-standing label, Panic Records. With plans to be locked away until July 6th, the quartet will split time with co-producers Nick Bellmore (Hatebreed, Kingdom of Sorrow, Death Threat) at Dexter’s Lab in Milford, CT and Jason Maas (Bane, Verse, Title Fight) at Getaway Group studio in Wakefield, MA. With nearly a dozen songs ready to record that range in subject matter from isolation, to the trials and tribulations of playing in a touring band, vocalist/guitarist James Carroll confides “the sound is definitely more mature than anything from our previous EPs, but overall it definitely a MDAM record; very driving, heavy and filled with a lot of emotion.”

"It's been exciting to watch MDAM grow as a band. We've become very good friends and the band itself has been a big part of Panic Records growth,” says Panic Records owner Timm McIntosh. “Our main priority at Panic Records is to help the bands on the label, and so it's a logical step to team up with Paper + Plastick to help continue MDAM's growth. I can't wait for this record to drop… everything MDAM touches is gold." Paper + Plastick Records owner Vinnie Fiorello adds "This collaboration is an exciting one for me and P+P. I love and respect Panic as a label, and to be able to work with them on such an amazing project like MDAM is inspirational and lends itself to the fact that the music scene doesn't have to be cutthroat to survive and thrive.”

Recently wrapping a handful of dates supporting Set Your Goals and Comeback Kid, MDAM’s Do-It-Yourself ethos, sincerity and hardwork will be affirmed just hours after leaving the studio. The band recently announced the first leg of a summer tour that kicks off in Baltimore on July 6th, and spans the rest of the summer. The first round of dates (July 6 thru August 1) include shows with Hostage Calm, Heartsounds, This Is Hell, Teenage Bottlerocket, and Shook Ones, as well as sets at the Sound And Fury Festival in Santa Barbara, CA and Van Isle Hardcore Fest VI in Victoria, BC. “This summer tour is going to be 53 days long,” says MDAM vocalist/guitarist James Carroll, “so that will give us plenty of time to get some new songs in road shape.” More dates thru the end of August will be announced shortly.

MDAM exploded onto the scene with their sophomore EP, Bodies Of Water, which was offered to fans as a free download. The album was well received across the board and left ThePunksite to claim “[Bodies Of Water is] a cohesive piece of post-hardcore music that ebbs and flows with anticipation, passion and sincerity.” In anticipation of their full-length, MDAM is releasing a split 7” with Touché Amoré later this Summer on Panic Records/6131 Records, which features the track “Hand Me Downs,” streaming on the band’s MySpace page.
